Sunset in the desert

Watching the sunset into the western desert and seeing the golden rays igniting the clouds in a constantly evolving and changing artists palate was special. It was in the silence of the desert with the total focus on watching and observing the changes that made it "not just another sunset". The inselbergs became colored and then silhouetted by the sun and contributed to the sense of being in a special place. Spending time there gives an experience that may come closest to a sense of sacredness. As we were sitting and wandering in awe of the spectacle playing out in front of our eyes, Imad was busy lighting a small fire, bbq-ing some chicken marinated under the skin with a mixture of spices, making egyptian rice, potatoes with onions, tomatoes, chicken stock, salad of cucumber, tomato, green pepper, egyptian bread and to top it off, el arose tea (real egyptian tea). Let me just say, there was no way we could eat it all. It was times like this that we both wished we had a second stomach to make room for the food, as the flavors were la zeez(delicious) and whether that is the setting or the food is irrelevant. Lets just say it was gameel (beautiful).
