ESNA
Enroute to join our dahibeyeh, which would be home for the next 5 nights, we visited the temple of Khun. In order to get there however, we were led through Esna's market place. Now, I was expecting exotic textiles, bead work, amulets, pottery & was very eager........what we got was, yes, a lot of different foods beautifully arranged, & yes, meat hung up out to air, but also lots of 'stuff' that we'd find anywhere in the world; rubber flip flop shoes, plastic table cloths, stainless steel pots & pans. Not one of the things I was hoping for! I couldn't be disappointed though because there was just so much activity & colour & noise, I was too busy trying to take it all in!
